Title: Requires Teachers, Child Care Providers, and Health Care Providers to Inform Parents of a Child's Expressed Interest in Gender Nonconformity
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires teachers, child care providers, and health care providers to inform parents of a child's expressed interest in gender nonconformity in Idaho.
Prohibits primary or secondary educational institutions, child care providers, or medical providers from withholding information from parents related to their minor child’s expressed interest in sex transition procedures (Sec. 1).
Requires covered entities to notify the minor’s parents within 72 hours of receiving any request from the minor for any of the following (Sec. 1):
A desire to be referred to by pronouns or titles that don’t correspond with the minor student’s biological sex;
A desire to be referred to by names other than the minor’s legal name;
Use restrooms, locker rooms, or other similar facilities designated for the opposite sex; or
Participate in any athletic team or sex-seperated school activity designated for the opposite sex.
Prohibits the covered entities of this Act from aiding in a child’s efforts to obtain sex transition procedures (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act will take effect on July 1, 2026 (Sec. 3).
