Vote to pass a bill that establishes limitations on the consumption of water for cooling data centers in Idaho.

Highlights:

• Establishes the Legislature’s finding that data centers’ consumption of water conflicts with local public interest, is contrary to the conservation of water resources in Idaho, and will adversely affect the local economy of the source of water used (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits data centers that begin construction on or after July 1, 2026 from using water for cooling purposes as a consumptive use unless the water is supplied by a municipal, water district, or water and sewer district water system (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that this Act takes effect July 1, 2026 (Sec. 3).
