Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the use of medical marijuana in hospitals for terminally ill patients in Delaware.

Highlights:

• Requires healthcare facilities to permit the medical use of marijuana by a cardholder with a terminal illness (Sec. 1).

• Requires healthcare facilities to do the following (Sec. 1):

• Require the patient or patient’s dedicated caregiver to provide a copy of the patient’s registry identification card;

• Include the medical use of marijuana within the patient’s medical records;

• Prohibit smoking or vaping as methods to use medical marijuana;

• Prohibit healthcare professionals from administering medical marijuana or retrieving medical marijuana from storage;

• Require the patient to to be responsible for acquiring, retrieving, administering and removing medical marijuana;

• Require proper storage of medical marijuana in a locked container;

• Require that the patient remove all medical marijuana from the facility upon the patient’s discharge; and

• Develop and disseminate written policies and procedures for the use of medical marijuana.

• Authorizes the healthcare facility to prohibit the use of medical marijuana if the facility determines that its use would have an adverse impact on the medical care of the patient (Sec. 1).
