Title: Requires the Secretary of State to Use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program to Verify Registered Voters' Citizenship Status
Vote to pass a bill that requires the Iowa Secretary of State to use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program to verify registered voters' citizenship status.
Requires the state registrar to attempt to verify all registered voters’ United States citizenship status using the Systemic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system of the U.S. citizen and immigration services (Sec. 1).
Requires each county commissioner to send a notice to any voter whose citizenship status could not be verified containing the following (Sec. 1):
The ability to cancel their voter registration;
Instructions on how to provide proof of their citizenship status; and
Information on how to reach United States immigration authorities to correct information that the registrant believes to be incorrect.
Requires the voter registration of an individual to be canceled if proof of citizenship is not provided within 90 days of the notification (Sec. 1).
Requires the state registrar to verify the United States citizenship of new registered voters on a monthly basis and the citizenship status of all registered voters on an annual basis (Sec. 1).
