Title: Restricts State and Local Law Enforcement From Engaging in a Federal Immigration Enforcement Agreement
Vote to pass a bill that restricts state and local law enforcement from engaging in federal immigration enforcement agreements in Virginia.
Prohibits any employee of a law-enforcement agency to assist, cooperate with, or use any law-enforcement resources to facilitate immigration enforcement activity (Sec. 1).
Prohibits law-enforcement agencies from maintaining, renewing, or entering into any federal immigration enforcement agreement unless it complies with certain provisions (Sec. 1).
Requires U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to provide law-enforcement agencies the names and ranks of all federal agents involved in any immigration enforcement activity within the Commonwealth (Sec. 1).
Prohibits U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and agents from (Sec. 1):
Requesting information on individuals from the Commonwealth;
Conducting immigration enforcement when polls are open and ballots are being counted; and
Employing surveillance technology.
Prohibits a federal agent from entering a home within the Commonwealth without a valid judicial warrant (Sec. 1).
Requires any law enforcement agency who is currently working with an existing federal immigration enforcement agreement to obtain in writing a modified federal immigration enforcement agreement that complies with the provisions above (Sec. 1).
