Title: Authorizes Monetary Awards for State Employees Who Report Fraud, Waste, or Abuse of Funds
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes monetary awards for state employees who report waste, fraud, or abuse of funds in Kansas.
Authorizes the secretary of administration to grant a monetary award to a state employee that reports actions of fraud, waste, and abuse in any state program unless the following is present (Sec. 1):
The office of the inspector or attorney general had knowledge of the activity;
An open investigation on the person or entity named in the report is present; and
The allegations were released by the news media.
Establishes the reward to be 10% of the realized savings by the state that resulted in the employee's report of fraud (Sec. 1).
Prohibits any elected or appointed officials from receiving a monetary award (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this act is effective upon publication (Sec. 3).
