Vote to pass a bill that increases the penalties for impaired driving which results in death of any person in West Virginia.

Highlights:

• Increases the mandatory minimum and maximum length of imprisonment for individuals convicted of driving while impaired and causing the death of any person, including an embryo or fetus, from between 3-15 years to 5-30 years (Sec. 1).

• Increases the mandatory minimum and maximum fine for such conviction from between $1,000-$3,000 to $2,000-$6,000 (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that an individual convicted of a violation described by this section is not subject to assignment to a housing center for young adult offenders or for home detention if it is found that the individual acted with deliberate disregard for the safety of others (Sec. 1).
