Vote to pass a bill that authorizes K-12 athletic coaches in Florida to use up to $15,000 of personal funds per year for student welfare.

Highlights:

• Requires the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) to adopt bylaws authorizing the head coach of an athletic team to support the welfare of a student athlete that they coach with personal funds in good faith for support including but not limited to (Sec. 1);

• Food;

• Transportation; and

• Recovery services.

• Requires head coaches that use personal funds in this manner to report such use to the FHSAA (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that usage of personal funds for the above purposes is not an impermissible benefit, unless such use is (Sec. 1);

• Not reported;

• Reported and deemed to not be in good faith by the FHSAA; or

• Used for recruiting purposes.

• Specifies that the maximum amount of personal funds eligible for use by a head coach is $15,000 per team, per year (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that this Act takes effect July 1, 2026 (Sec. 6).
