Title: Authorizes Registered Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants to Perform Certain Animal Health Care Services
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that authorizes registered veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants to perform certain animal health care services under the supervision of a veterinarian in California.
Authorizes registered veterinary technicians and assistants to perform animal health care services under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian (Sec. 1).
Authorizes registered veterinary technicians and assistants to perform health care services on animals in public or private animal shelters or humane societies pursuant to an order by a licensed veterinarian, which may include the following information (Sec. 1):
Time periods for assessment of the animal;
Protocols to address the treatment of conditions experienced by the animal;
Protocols for preventing environmental contamination;
Protocols for animal pain control;
Communication requirements between veterinary technicians and licensed veterinarians; and
Criteria for the usage of euthenasia.
