Title: Authorizes Health Care Providers with a Credential from Another State to Provide Telehealth Care Services in Wisconsin
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes health care providers with a credential from another state to provide telehealth care services in Wisconsin.
Authorizes an individual who possesses a license, permit, registration, or other approval as a health care provider in another state to provide health care services by telehealth to patients located in the State of Wisconsin (Sec. 1).
Requires the individual to register with the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) or any credentialing board (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the DSPS or any credentialing board to register a health care provider who does not possess a credential in the State of Wisconsin as a telehealth provider if the health care provider satisfies all of the following (Sec. 1):
The health care provider applies and pays the applicable fee;
The health care provider possesses a license, permit, registration, or other approval as a health care provider in another state, the District of Columbia, or a United States Territory;
The health care provider has not been subject to any disciplinary action related to his or her license, permit, registration, or other approval as a health care provider;
The health care provider designates an agent upon whom service of process may be made in this state on a form prescribed by the DSPS; and
The health care provider demonstrates that he or she complies with subsection 5.
Requires a health care provider registered to provide telehealth services under this section to notify the DSPS or any credentialing board of restrictions placed on his or her license, permit, registration, or other approval as a health care provider in any state where a disciplinary action has taken place or is pending against him or her (Sec. 1).
Prohibits a health care provider registered to provide telehealth services under this section from opening an office or providing in-person health care services (Sec. 1).
Requires the DSPS to publish on its website a list of all health care providers registered to provide telehealth services under this section (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the DSPS or any applicable credentialing board to take disciplinary action against a health care provider registered to provide telehealth services under this section if any of the following applies to the registrant (Sec 1):
The registrant fails to notify the DSPS or applicable credentialing board of action taken against his or her license, permit, registration, or other approval as a health care provider;
The registrant has restrictions placed on his or her license, permit, registration, or other approval, or disciplinary action has been commenced against the registrant in any state or jurisdiction;
The registrant violates any of the requirements under this section; or
The registrant commits any act that constitutes grounds for disciplinary action applicable to the registrant’s health care practice in this state.
