Vote to pass a bill that requires members of historic preservation commissions to take a historic preservation planning course in New Jersey.

Highlights:

• Requires the Commissioner of Community Affairs to prepare and offer a course in historic preservation planning for regular, alternate, and prospective members of historic preservation commissions (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the course should consist of no more than 5 hours of instruction and be completable in one day (Sec. 1).

• Requires individuals to complete this course, once it is offered, within 18 months of assuming membership as a regular or alternate member of a historic preservation commission (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that a hearing or proceeding, a decision, or a recommendation made by a historic preservation commission is not invalidated if it is found that a member of the commission has failed to complete the course required by this Section (Sec. 1).

• Exempts the following individuals from the completion of the course required by this Section (Sec. 1):
