Title: Amends the Distribution of Sales Tax Revenue

Vote to pass a bill that amends the distribution of sales tax revenue in Michigan.

Highlights:

  • Amends the distribution of sales tax revenue in Michigan and specifies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, and each fiscal year thereafter, $755 million of the collections of the tax imposed at a rate of 4% under this act must be deposited in the state school aid fund (Sec. ).

  • Specifies that in addition to the money distributed to cities, villages and townships under subsection (2), for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026 and each fiscal year thereafter, $95 million of the collections of the tax imposed at a rate of 4% under this act must be distributed on a per capita population basis to cities, villages, and townships pursuant to the Glenn Steil state revenue sharing act of 1971 (Sec. ).

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor and subsequent enactment of the following legislation (Sec. ):

    • H.B. 4181;

    • H.B. 4182;

    • H.B. 4183;

    • H.B. 4184;

    • H.B. 4185;

    • H.B. 4186;

    • H.B. 4187; and

    • H.B. 4230.
