Vote to pass a bill that exempts claims for damages resulting from criminal sexual conduct from the statute of limitations on claims made against the state of Michigan.

Highlights:

• Specifies that with certain exceptions, a claim may not be maintained against the State of Michigan unless the claimant, within 1 year after the claim has accrued, files either a written claim or a written notice of intention to file a claim against the State of Michigan or any of its departments, commissions, boards, institutions, arms, or agencies (Sec. 6431). 

• Specifies that claims for damages resulting from criminal sexual conduct are exempt from the requirement that an individual must file a written claim or written notice of intention to file a claim within 1 year of the claim accruing (Sec. 6431).
