Vote to pass a bill that amends and modifies the requirements for hotels to obtain liquor licenses in Michigan.

Highlights:

• Amends and modifies the financial record requirements for Class A and B hotels to obtain Class C liquor licenses in Michigan (Sec. 107).

• Defines “Class A hotel” as a hotel licensed by the commission to sell beer, wine, and mixed spirit drinks for consumption on the premises only that provides for the rental of, and maintains the availability for rental of, 20 or more rooms (Sec. 107).

• Defines “Class B hotel” as a hotel licensed by the commission to sell beer, wine, mixed spirit drinks, and spirits for consumption on the premises only that provides for the rental of, and maintains the availability for rental of, 20 or more rooms (Sec. 107).

• Defines “Class C license” as a place licensed to sell at retail beer, wine, mixed spirit drinks, and spirits for consumption on the premises (Sec. 107).

• Defines “Financial records” as any document or summary of information contained in a document, including electronic documents, that contains information about the financial activities or position of a person, including, but not limited to, information about the individual’s (Sec. 107):

• Assets;

• Balance sheets;

• Budgets;

• Cash flow;

• Earnings;

• Revenue;

• Expenditures; 

• Income;

• Investments;

• Losses;

• Liabilities;

• Payroll;

• Profits;

• Retained earnings; or 

• Taxes.

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 107).
