Title: Authorizes Final Grades for Individuals Unable to Complete a Course of Higher Education Due to Military Obligation
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes final grades for individuals unable to complete a course at an institution of higher education in New Jersey due to military obligation.
Requires that a military service member or their dependent enrolled in a public institution of higher education be entitled to options for a course grade in the case that they are unable to complete the course due to an unplanned military obligation (Sec. 1).
Authorizes a service member or their dependent to choose from the following options if they have completed at least 55% of the course duration, if approved (Sec. 1):
Receive a letter grade, or a grade of pass or fail, if the teacher determines that the grade is justified;
Receive a grade of incomplete;
Withdraw from the course;
Receive a temporary grade, if applicable; or
Transfer into an equivalent online section of the course, if available.
Authorizes a service member or their dependent to choose from the following options if they have completed less than 55% of the course duration, if approved (Sec. 1):
Receive a grade of incomplete if the teacher determines that the grade is justified;
Withdraw from the course; or
Transfer into an equivalent online section of the course, if available.
Specifies that this Act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 2).
