Vote to pass a bill that authorizes final grades for individuals unable to complete a course at an institution of higher education in New Jersey due to military obligation.

Highlights:

• Requires that a military service member or their dependent enrolled in a public institution of higher education be entitled to options for a course grade in the case that they are unable to complete the course due to an unplanned military obligation (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a service member or their dependent to choose from the following options if they have completed at least 55% of the course duration, if approved (Sec. 1):

• Receive a letter grade, or a grade of pass or fail, if the teacher determines that the grade is justified;

• Receive a grade of incomplete;

• Withdraw from the course;

• Receive a temporary grade, if applicable; or

• Transfer into an equivalent online section of the course, if available.

• Authorizes a service member or their dependent to choose from the following options if they have completed less than 55% of the course duration, if approved (Sec. 1):

• Receive a grade of incomplete if the teacher determines that the grade is justified;

• Withdraw from the course; or

• Transfer into an equivalent online section of the course, if available.

• Specifies that this Act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 2).
