Title: Establishes Protections for Pharmacists, Doctors and Hospitals from Penalties for Dispensing the Abortion Pill Mifepristone to Out-of-State Patients, and Removes the Names of Patients and Providers from Abortion Medication Prescriptions
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that establishes protections for pharmacists, doctors, and hospitals from penalties for dispensing the abortion pill mifepristone to out-of-state patients, and removes the names of patients and providers from abortion medication prescriptions in California.
Establishes that a Healing Arts Practitioner should not be subject to penalty if they are prescribing abortion medicine approved by the United States Food And Drug Administration (Sec. 3).
Establishes that the Federal Government or other states penalties for prescribing abortion medication are against the public policy of the state (Sec. 3).
Prohibits Healing Arts Boards from revoking the license of any individual working with medication abortion lawful under the laws of the state (Sec. 4).
Prohibits health care providers and pharmaceutical companies from disclosing information about individuals seeking an abortion to individuals in other states (Sec. 11).
Prohibits state and local officers for commencing disciplinary action against someone in relation to medicational abortion (Sec. 13).
Prohibits health services plans that cover prescription drug benefits from being issued in the state if they restrict drugs for being prescribed and used for purposes other than advertised by the FDA so long as the prescription is from a licensed healthcare provider (Sec. 15).
Prohibits individual disability and insurance policies from being issued in the state if they restrict drugs for being prescribed and used for purposes other than advertised by the FDA, so long as the prescription is from a licensed healthcare provider (Sec. 19).
