Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that establishes restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by law enforcement agencies in California.

Highlights:

• Requires law enforcement agencies to maintain a policy requiring any official report that is generated using artificial intelligence to contain the following information (Sec 1):

• An acknowledgement on each page of artificial intelligence use and the program used; and

• The signature of the law enforcement officer or member of a law enforcement agency who prepared the official report.

• Requires the law enforcement officer or law enforcement agency to retain the first draft created for as long as the official report is retained (Sec 1).

• Prohibits a draft of any report created with the use of artificial intelligence to constitute an officers statement (Sec 1).

• Requires the agency using artificial intelligence to maintain an audit trail for as long as the official report is retained that identifies (Sec 1):

• The person who used artificial intelligence to create the report; and

• The video and audio footage used to create the report, if any.
