Title: Expands Activation Requirements Under the Michigan Amber Alert Act
Vote to pass a bill that expands activation requirements for communications under the Michigan Amber Alert Act.
Requires the activation of the Michigan Amber alert plan for a report of either of the following (Sec. 3):
A missing child with special needs; or
A missing child who the Department of State Police believes is in danger after a law enforcement agency conducts a preliminary investigation.
Defines “child with special needs,” for the purposes of this Section, as an individual who has been evaluated and determined to have a qualifying impairment and needs services, who is not older than 26 years of age, and who has not yet graduated high school (Sec. 3).
