Vote to amend and pass a bill that authorizes intra-district public school open enrollment for students in New Hampshire.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the parent or guardian of a student to apply to the superintendent of the student’s local district to change the student’s school or assignment to another public school, academy, or approved public school within the district (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the parent or guardian of a student may still apply to change their student’s school or assignment outside of the district if they believe it is in the best interest of the student (Sec. 1).

• Requires applications under this Act to be made by July 1 for the upcoming school year, unless the student is experiencing manifest educational hardship (Sec. 1).

• Requires the superintendent to consider only whether the requested school has the ability to accommodate the student based on capacity in the case of an application for a change within the district (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that this Act takes effect July 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
