Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that requires school districts and certain universities in California to notify students, faculty, and other campus members when federal immigration enforcement is present.

Highlights:

• Requires the superintendent of a school district, the superintendent of a county office of education, and the principal of a charter school, or their respective designee, to notify, as specified, all teachers, staff, other school community members that work on the school site, parents, and guardians when the presence of immigration enforcement, as defined, is confirmed on the school site (Sec. 5).

• Requires those postsecondary educational entities, and each campus of those postsecondary educational entities, to notify, as specified, all students, faculty, staff, and other campus community members when the presence of immigration enforcement, as defined, is confirmed on campus (Sec. 5).

• Specifies this bill as an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the California Constitution and shall go into immediate effect (Sec. 5).
