Title: Requires the Board of a School District or Board of Directors of a Public School to Implement a Wireless Communications Device Policy
Vote to pass a bill that requires the board of a school district or the board of directors of a public school to implement a wireless communications device policy for students who are in grades K-5 that prohibits those students from possessing a wireless communication device on school grounds.
Requires the board of a school district or the board of directors of a public school to implement a wireless communications device policy for students who are in grades K-5 that prohibits those students from possessing a wireless communication device on school grounds during all of the following, including (Sec. 1303a):
Instructional time;
Breaks between instructional time;
Lunch; or
Recess.
Defines “Wireless communications device” means an electronic device capable of, but not limited to, text messaging, voice communication, entertainment, navigation, accessing the internet, or producing email (Sec. 1303a).
Defines “School grounds” as a building, playing field, or property used for school purposes to impart instruction to children or used for functions and events sponsored by a school (Sec. 1303a).
Specifies that school grounds do not include a building used primarily for adult education or college extension courses (Sec. 1303a).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 1303a).
