Vote to adopt a conference report and pass a bill that increases the amount individuals and organizations can donate to political candidates in Kansas.

Highlights:

  • Specifies that the aggregate amount contributed to a candidate and such candidate's candidate committee and all party committees and political committees and dedicated to such candidate's campaign, by any political committee or any person except a party committee, the candidate or the candidate's spouse, shall not exceed the following ( Sec. 1):

    • For the pair of offices of governor and lieutenant governor or other state officers elected from the state as a whole, $4,000 for each primary election;

    • For the pair of offices of governor and lieutenant governor or other state officers elected from the state as a whole, $2,000 $4,000 for each primary election; and

    • For the office of state senator, member of the state board of education, or a candidate for local office whose jurisdiction has a population of 50,000 or more, $2,000 for each primary election.

  • Specifies that the aggregate amount contributed to a party committee by a person other than a party committee shall not exceed $35,000 in each calendar year (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that the aggregate amount contributed by a national party committee to a party committee shall not exceed $35,000 in any calendar year (Sec. 1).
