Title: Appropriates $584 Million from the General Fund to Supplement the State's Appropriation to the Public Employees' Retirement Fund
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates $584 Million from the general fund to supplement the state's appropriation to the public employees' retirement fund.
Expands the definition of “employee,” for determining eligibility for nonindustrial disability benefits for state employees, to include state officers or employees appointed to a career executive assignment effective October 1, 2025 (Sec. 1).
Specifies that employees newly eligible for disability benefits under the previous paragraph must file a claim within 41 days of the effective date of this provision (Sec. 1).
Appropriates $584 million from the General Fund to supplement the state’s appropriation to the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund, and specifies that this appropriation represents a portion of the amount identified in the Budget Act of 2025 (Sec. 2).
Requires the supplemental payment to the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund to be divided among state employee member categories, in the following maximum amounts (Sec. 2):
$273,983,000 to the state miscellaneous member category;
$16,164,000 to the state industrial member category;
$32,150,000 to the state safety member category; and
$261,703,000 to the state peace officer/firefighter member category.
Expands the lead standard regulations taken into effect December 31, 2024 to include any work performed under a construction contract or subcontract on the Golden Gate Bridge for the Suspension Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project (Sec. 6).
Specifies that this Act does not require reimbursement for local agencies and school districts for costs mandated by the state (Sec. 9).
Specifies that this Act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 10).
