Vote to pass a bill that requires healthcare providers to obtain written informed consent before administering a COVID-19 vaccine in Texas.
Requires written informed consent before administering a COVID-19 vaccine, including acknowledgment that the recipient received a standardized information sheet (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of State Health Services to develop an information sheet that includes (Sec. 1):
Benefits and risks of the vaccine;
Information on the expedited development process of the vaccine;
Whether long-term scientific studies have been conducted;
Whether the manufacturer is liable for vaccine-related injuries; and
Instructions for reporting adverse events to the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System
Authorizes disciplinary action by state licensing boards against health-care providers who fail to comply with these requirements (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act takes effect on September 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
