Title: Establishes Civil Liability and Requires Disclosure for the Use of Deepfake Content in Campaign Advertisements
Vote to pass a bill that establishes civil liability and requires disclosure for the use of deepfake content in campaign advertisements in Pennsylvania.
Requires that campaigns disclose when they use AI-generated deepfakes that mimic a candidate’s appearance or voice (Sec. 1-3).
Specifies that any political campaigns and organizations that do not disclose their use of a deepfake in an advertisement could be fined every day the ad runs, and that the daily fine would be up to (Sec. 1-3):
$15,000 in municipal elections;
$50,000 in state elections; and
$250,000 in federal elections.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect 60 days after passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 4).
