Vote to pass a bill that requires municipal employees to attempt to identify and notify the owners of a deceased dog or cat recovered on public roads in New York.
Requires municipal employees who recover a deceased dog or cat from a public road during their duties to make a reasonable effort to check for any signs of ownership, such as tags or license numbers (Sec. 1).
Requires notification of the pet’s death to an identified owner, or to an animal management service if contact with the owner is not possible (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect 180 days after becoming law (Sec. 2).
