Vote to pass a bill that establishes new penalties for the distribution of obscene materials to a minor in Iowa.

Highlights:

• Specifies the following criminal classifications for offenses of adult dissemination of obscene material to a minor (Sec. 1):

• For a first offense, a serious misdemeanor;

• For a second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor with a mandatory minimum term of confinement of one year without possibility of deferral or suspension; and

• For a third or subsequent offense, a class “D” felony with a mandatory minimum term of confinement of three years without the possibility of deferral or suspension.

• Classifies the distribution of obscene material from one minor to another as a serious misdemeanor (Sec. 2).
