Title: Expands Access and Length of Paid Family Leave for Public and Private Employees
Vote to pass a bill that expands access to and length of paid family leave for Nevada employees.
Expands access to and length of paid family leave for Nevada employees in both the private and public sectors (Sec. 1-13).
Amends and broadens the reasons for taking leave to include the following, such as (Sec. 1-13).
Bonding with a newly placed foster child;
Recovering from certain health conditions; and
Addressing issues related to
domestic violence;
Stalking;
Harassment; or
Sexual assault.
Authorizes employees earning up to 110% of the state average weekly wage to receive 100% of their regular wage (Sec. 1-13).
Specifies that those earning more than 110% would receive 60% of their regular wage, capped at 150% of the state average weekly wage (Sec. 1-13).
Requires that employers with 50 or more employees establish reasonable procedures for employees to take paid family leave (Sec. 1-13).
Requires the Human Resources Commission and Labor Commissioner to set regulations for documentation and confidentiality (Sec. 1-13).
Establishes provisions for civil action against private employers who fail to comply, with potential penalties of up to $5,000 per violation (Sec. 1-13).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 15).
