Vote to pass a bill that establishes four weeks of paid parental leave for state employees in Iowa who adopt a child or give birth and one week of paid parental leave for their spouse.

Highlights:

• Authorizes state employees to add up to one half-day of additional vacation to their accrued vacation account if they have accumulated ten days of sick leave and do not use sick leave during a full month of employment (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the ability to add vacation based on unused sick leave only applies after four years of employment for employees of the State Board of Regents with nine-month appointments, as well as those covered under a collective bargaining agreement negotiated with the public safety bargaining unit (Sec. 1).
