Vote to pass a bill that establishes fuel labeling requirements for Colorado retailers and classifies violations as deceptive trade practices.

Highlights:

• Requires retailers to label fuel products with the following statement, in both English and Spanish: “Warning: Use of this product releases air pollutants and greenhouse gases, known by the state of Colorado to be linked to significant health impacts and global heating, respectively” (Sec. 2).

• Requires retailers to make the label conspicuous and to maintain and replace it when necessary (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits retailers from displaying or selling fuel products from a pump or in a container without the label specified in this Section (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that a retailer has 45 days from notice of a violation of this Section to cure the violation prior to action being brought against them (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that a violation of this act is considered a deceptive trade practice under the “Colorado Consumer Protection Act” (Sec. 2-3).
