Title: Authorizes School Districts to Install Bus Cameras to Enforce Illegal Passing Violations
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that authorizes school districts to partner with local authorities to install cameras on school buses to detect and penalize motorists who illegally pass stopped buses in Colorado.
Authorizes the use of automated vehicle identification systems (cameras) on school buses to detect a motor vehicle overtaking a stopped school bus with visual signal lights (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the state, county, or municipality to impose a fine of up to $300 in the case that a camera detects a motor vehicle in violation of illegal passing of a school bus (Sec. 1).
Prohibits the state, a county, a city and county, a school district, or a municipality from using fines collected from this system to pay the manufacturer or vendor of the bus camera (Sec. 1).
Prohibits any contract from including a quota regarding the number of violations captured (Sec. 1).
