Vote to amend and pass a bill that authorizes boat owners to construct hard dock roofs on Iowa docks and requires owners to maintain liability insurance to construct such roofs.

Highlights:

• Authorizes an individual with a valid class I or class III dock permit to construct a roof to protect a hoist or slip, under the following conditions for the roof (Sec. 1):

• It is built with rust-resistant materials;

• It is no more than thirty feet wide;

• It is no more than twenty feet above the normal water elevation surrounding the dock;

• It is built above the boat slip or hoist; and

• It is not used for sleeping or habitation by a person.

• Requires the owner of a dock on which a roof is installed to maintain dock liability insurance with minimum per occurrence coverage of at least one million dollars (Sec. 1).
