Title: Requires Law Enforcement Agencies to have Stricter Hiring Practices
Vote to pass a bill that requires law enforcement to have stricter hiring practices in Illinois.
Requires law enforcement to have stricter hiring practices in Illinois (Sec. 5).
Prohibits police departments from being able to make final offers of employment for probationary or law enforcement officers unless they review all past employment records, including (Sec. 5):
Background investigation materials;
Duty-related physical and psychological fitness-for-duty examinations;
Work performance records,
Arrests;
Convictions, and
Any records of criminal, civil, or administrative investigations of conduct.
Extends and expands the creation of sheriff’s merit boards and sheriff’s merit commissions for counties with populations of at least 75,000 (Sec. 5).
