Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires commercial driver license (CDL) holders to understand English in Oklahoma.

Highlights:

• Requires Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders to understand and be demonstrably proficient in English in Oklahoma, including to (Sec. 1):

• Converse with the general public;

• Understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language;

• Respond to official inquiries; and

• Make entries on reports and records.

• Specifies that the penalty for non-compliance shall be towing and impoundment of the vehicle the individual was driving (Sec 1).

• Prohibits truckers with B-1 or B-2 visas from operating in the state and establishes a $2,000 fine for truckers operating in the state with a B-1 or B-2 visa (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits Oklahoma trucking companies from employing or contracting with B-1 and B-2 visa holders and specifies that the penalty shall be no more than $5,000 (Sec. 1).
