Title: Requires Social Media Platforms to have a Warning Label Concerning the Association Between a Minor's Social Media Usage and Significant Mental Health Issues
Vote to pass a bill that requires social media platforms to have a warning label concerning the association between a minor's social media usage and significant mental health issues in Texas.
Requires social media platforms to display a warning label concerning the association between a minor’s social media usage and significant mental health issues in Texas (Sec. 1).
Requires that the warning label appear on the main landing page and that it include all of the following (Sec. 1):
Information on available resources for those suffering from mental health issues;
A statement about social media platforms’ usage of personal data; and
A statement about the addictive nature of social media.
Requires that the social media platform prohibit a user from utilizing the platform until they verify they understand the warning (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect on September 1, 2025 (Sec. 3).
