Vote to pass a bill that prohibits schools and library districts from removing books with stories about religion, disability, LGBTQ+ issues, or other characteristics of a protected class in Oregon.

Highlights:

• Prohibits school libraries from removing books, or refusing to select books, based solely on the fact that they contain stories about individuals or groups against whom discrimination is prohibited under Oregon law (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that challenges to remove books must be made in writing by a parent or guardian of a student of the school or an employee of the school and the reviewing committee must provide a written explanation for any removal (Sec. 2).
