Vote to amend and pass a bill that appropriates funding for the fiscal year 2025-2026 state budget in Alabama.

Highlights:

• Appropriates funding for a 10% $347 million increase to the fiscal year 2025-2026 state budget in Alabama, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1-25):

• $1.179 billion to the Alabama Medicaid Agency;

• $826.7 billion to the Alabama Department of Corrections;

• $148.9 million to the Alabama Department of Human Resources;

• $244 million to the Alabama Department of Mental Health; and

• $80 million to the Creating Hope and Opportunity for Our Students’ Education (CHOOSE) Act Fund, a voucher-like program that gives tax credits for non-public school spending, including private school tuition.

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect beginning October 1, 2025 (Sec. 26).
