Title: Requires Certain Materials to be Stored in Locked Compartments within a Designated Area
Vote to pass a bill that requires certain materials to be stored in locked compartments within a designated area in Arkansas.
Requires a library media center located in a public elementary school for grades K-5 to store non-age-appropriate sexual content, including a book or other resource that is located in the library media center that is available to the public, in a locked compartment within a designated area (Sec. 1).
Prohibits schools from allowing students to view or check out a book or other resource that concerns non-age-appropriate sexual content that is stored in a locked compartment within a designated area unless the library media center receives prior written approval from the student's parent or legal guardian (Sec. 1).
Specifies that a public school principal and a public school district superintendent may suspend an individual who is found to have knowingly failed to comply with this section for a maximum of 5 days without pay (Sec. 1).
Requires that an allegation that an individual knowingly failed to comply with this section a second time shall be referred to the Professional Licensure Standards Board by filing a formal complaint (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the board may suspend the teaching license of an individual who is found to have knowingly failed to comply with this section a second time.
Specifies if an individual is found to have knowingly failed to comply with this section a third time, the board shall revoke the individual's teaching license (Sec. ).
Defines “non-age-appropriate sexual content” means any materials that include explicit instruction, promotion, or advocacy of sexual ideology, behaviors, or orientations that are not developmentally appropriate for grade K-5 students (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 1).
