Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that amends bail bonds and prohibits the use of public tax funds to pay bail bonds in Texas.
Prohibits the use of public tax funds to pay bail bonds or to go towards a nonprofit organization that accepts and uses donations from the public to deposit money with a court in the amount of a defendant’s bail bond in Texas (Sec. 1).
Specifies that taxpayers shall be entitled to appropriate injunctive relief and compensation from a political subdivision if it is found they have violated these requirements (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect beginning September 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
