Title: Establishes the Oklahoma Nuclear Energy Feasibility Study Act of 2025
Vote to pass a bill that establishes the Oklahoma Nuclear Energy Feasibility Study Act of 2025 regarding promoting nuclear energy generation in Oklahoma.
Establishes the Oklahoma Nuclear Energy Feasibility Study Act of 2025 (Sec. 1).
Requires the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to begin working with a consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study on promoting nuclear energy generation (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the Corporation Commission must begin engaging with an outside consulting firm within 90 days of the passage of this bill (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the feasibility study shall consider all of the following (Sec. 2):
The advantages and disadvantages of nuclear generation in Oklahoma;
The environmental impact of nuclear generation;
Ways to maximize the use of workers and materials in the construction of nuclear energy generation facilities;
Evaluations and recommendations on specific designs, land criteria, safety criteria, and engineering costs;
A socioeconomic assessment and impact analysis;
A timeline for development;
A review of previous studies on the potential impact of nuclear energy generation; and
Assessments and recommendations of policies that may be needed to support the adoption of nuclear energy generation.
Requires the Corporation Commission to give a written report on the feasibility study to the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House within 9 months of the effective date of this bill (Sec. 2).
Appropriates $375,000 to the Corporation Commission to compensate the consulting firm (Sec. 3).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill are immediately necessary and shall take effect upon passage and approval (Sec. 4).
