Title: Prohibits Local Law Enforcement Agencies From Entering Agreements With Federal Immigration Officials
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits local law enforcement agencies from entering into agreements with federal immigration officials in Maryland, effective June 1, 2025.
Prohibits certain schools, libraries, and units of State government that operate at certain sensitive locations from allowing certain federal personnel to access certain areas, subject to certain exceptions (Sec. 1).
Requires the Attorney General to develop guidelines relating to guidance regarding immigration enforcement at certain sensitive locations (Sec. 1).
Requires the Attorney General to develop guidance regarding individuals interacting with certain federal personnel (Sec. 1).
Requires State agencies certain schools, libraries, and units of State government that operate at certain sensitive locations to adopt certain policies or provide certain written notice of a decision not to adopt certain policies and to adopt policies consistent with certain guidance and generally relating to immigration enforcement.
Defines “sensitive locations” as (Sec. 1):
A public school;
A public library;
A health care facility operated by a unit of the state government;
A facility operated by the Comptroller;
A courthouse; or
Any other location that provides state-funded services related to;
Physical or mental health;
Education; or
Shelter care.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect June 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
