Vote to adopt a conference report that prohibits local governments from adopting any policy that restricts the concealed carry of firearms by their employees, officers and volunteers. It applies to government buildings, facilities and vehicles in South Dakota.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a board of county commissioners from restricting county employees, officers, or volunteers from lawfully possessing a concealed firearm within any county building, facility, or vehicle (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall not apply to the following individuals, other than law enforcement (Sec. 1):

• Inmates;

• An individual in a detention facility, mental health crisis center, or a substance use disorder treatment facility; or

• An individual using a county vehicle to transport another individual.

• Specifies that individuals are not authorized to lawfully carry dangerous weapons into events where metal detectors and armed security personnel are at each public entrance (Sec. 4).
