Title: Exempts Certain Health Insurance Plans From Federal Protections
Vote to pass a bill that exempts certain health insurance plans from federal protections in Missouri.
Amends and modifies provisions related to federal protections of health insurance plans in Missouri (Sec. 191.648).
Authorizes the Department of Commerce and Insurance to oversee certain insurance-related policies under the provisions of this bill (Sec. 191.648).
Specifies that MO HealthNet payments shall be made on behalf of those eligible needy individuals who cannot fully pay for the services, including, but not limited to, all of the following (Sec. 208.152):
Certain inpatient and outpatient hospital services;
Certain diagnostic services including X-rays;
Long-term nursing home care and home health care services;
Emergency medical transport;
Early screening and diagnosis for individuals under 21;
Outpatient surgical procedures at licensed facilities; and
Other specified services.
Specifies that additional benefit payments for medical assistance shall be made on behalf of those eligible needy children, pregnant women, and blind individuals under the provisions of this bill and as determined by MO HealthNet (Sec. 208.152).
Requires organizations offering health care benefit contracts to register with the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (Sec. 376.1850).
Requires organizations offering health care benefit contracts to include a disclaimer that the contract is not subject to federal or state health insurance laws (Sec. 376.1850).
