Vote to pass a bill that requires certain bathroom gender designations in prisons and the Department of Corrections at large in Oklahoma, effective November 1, 2025.

Highlights:

• Requires any institution or facility operated by the Department of Corrections in Oklahoma to designate each multi-occupancy restroom, changing room, and sleeping quarters for the exclusive use of either females or males (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits the use of any restroom, changing room, or sleeping quarters by the use of any individual of the opposite sex (Sec. 1). 

• Requires institutions to take reasonable steps to provide individuals with privacy from members of the opposite sex (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall not apply to the following individuals who may enter a restroom, changing room, or sleeping quarters of the opposite sex (Sec. 1):

• Custodial or maintenance workers;

• Medical professionals;

• Members of law enforcement; or

• Those assisting in natural disasters or declared emergencies.

• Authorizes any individual to file a lawsuit against a covered entity that violates the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect November 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
