Vote to pass a bill that establishes misdemeanor charges for continuing to approach first responders after being told to stop in Oklahoma.
Specifies that it shall be unlawful for a person after receiving a warning to not approach, to continue to approach, or remain within 25 feet of the person who is a first responder who is engaged in a lawful performance of their legal duty, with the individual's intent to be (Sec. 1):
Impede or interfere with the ability of the first responder to perform their duty;
Threaten the first responder with physical harm; or
Harass the first responder.
Establishes a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment up to 1 year, a fine not to exceed $1,000, or both for violation of this Act (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect November 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
