Title: Requires All Idaho Legislative Officials to Report Out-of-State Travel Costs

Vote to pass a bill that require all Idaho legislative officials to report out-of-state travel, paid by another individual or entity, that is reasonably related to a legislative or governmental purpose or to an issue of state, national, or international public policy.

Highlights:

  • Requires all legislative officials to report all travel related to legislative or governmental purposes or any issue about state, national, or international policy to the secretary of state (Sec. 1).

  • Requires legislative officials subject to the reporting requirements of this bill to provide a report to the secretary of state within 30 days of the return date with the following information (Sec. 1):

    • Travel destination;

    • Dates of travel; 

    • The purpose of the travel; and  

    • The name and address of the person or entity that paid for the travel, including whether the travel was a campaign contribution or whether the travel was made in a current member’s official capacity as a legislator.

  • Establishes a late fee of $25 for any legislative official who fails to file the report required by the provisions of this bill within 30 days of the return date (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that the effective date of this bill is July 1, 2025 (Sec. 2
