Title: Requires Employers of Domestic Workers to Provide Annual Sick Leave

Highlights:

  • Requires employers of domestic workers to provide annual sick leave in New York (Sec. 1). 

  • Species that employers with 4 or fewer employees in any calendar year shall provide the following sick leave (Sec. 1):

    • Up to 40 hours of annual unpaid sick leave if the employer has a net income of less than $1 million in the previous tax year; or

    • Up to 40 hours of annual paid sick leave if the employer has a net income of greater than $1 million in the previous tax year.

  • Specifies that employers with between 5 and 99 employees in any calendar year, including employers of one or more domestic workers, shall provide up to 40 hours of annual paid sick leave (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that employers with 100 or more employees in any calendar year shall provide up to 56 hours of annual paid sick leave (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 2).
