Vote to pass a bill that amends the authority for fire loss insurance reporting in Washington.
Amends the authority for fire loss insurance reporting in Washington (Sec. 1).
Requires an authorized insurer to report to the insurance commissioner each fire loss of property within 90 days of closing a claim and specifies the reported information must include the following (Sec. 1):
The property address;
The date of loss;
The amount that the insurer paid on each coverage;
The known or suspected origins and cause of damage, including whether the loss is because of criminal activity or undetermined causes;
The NAIC company number; and
Any other information required by the insurance commissioner relating to the insurance policy and claim.
Requires an insurer to immediately report to the local law enforcement agency if they know or suspect a fire loss or damage is due to criminal activity (Sec. 2).
Specifies that all documents, materials, reports, data, and investigations required by the provisions of this bill shall be confidential by law, except to local law enforcement officials and fire marshals for public safety planning purposes (Sec. 2).
