Title: Establishes Eligibility for Child Care Employees in the Child Care Assistance Program
Vote to override a veto of a bill that establishes provisions for eligibility in the child care assistance program for child care employees in South Dakota.
Specifies child care services to now be called child care assistance programs (Sec. 1).
Requires that to determine eligibility for payments from the child care assistance program, the Department of Social Services shall exclude all earned and unearned income of an applicant's household if (Sec. 3):
The applicant is employed by a:
Before and after school daycare program, which is licensed by the department; (Sect.3)
Day care center or group family day care home, licensed by the department; or
Family day care home registered by the department.
The applicant works at least 30 hours per week at the center home program; and
The applicant's household income does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty line.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 4).
