Title: Prohibits State Departments From Spending Money on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives

Highlights:

  • Prohibits funds from being spent by any state department on programs, staffing, or other initiatives associated with “diversity, equity, and inclusion” in Missouri (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that any initiative promoting the preferential treatment of any individuals or group of individuals based on race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, or ancestry shall fall under the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall not prohibit state departments from any of the following activities (Sec. 2):

    • Following federal and state employment and antidiscrimination laws; or

    • Complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Prohibits state departments from requiring private sector employers to implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as a condition of receiving a state contract (Sec. 3).
